How to care for leather bags

At Mimco, we believe a little special care goes a long way in maintaining your leather goods. If cared for properly, a leather bag will last a lifetime. Mimco leather goods have been designed to age beautifully with wear. For specific care details on different types of leather, please refer to the ‘Leather’ section.

  1. It’s important to not overload your bag.
  2. Avoid exposing your leather goods to direct sources of heat, such as heaters. Long exposure to the sun will fade the colour of your leather bag.
  3. Avoid contact with alcohol, perfume, solvents and greasy substances including makeup.
  4. Ensure you store your Mimco bag in its original dust bag, filled with tissue paper to help retain its shape.
  5. Avoid contact with rough or abrasive materials.
  6. Waterproof your leather bag and maintain it with a professional leather conditioner regularly.
  7. Take special care of white or light-coloured bags to avoid stains, as these are difficult to clean.
  8. To clean your leather goods, wipe with a clean, non-abrasive, soft dry cloth. In case of contact with water, do not rub the leather: use a clean dry cloth and apply a gentle tapping motion to absorb the liquid. If stains occur, dab the area with a damp soft cloth and leave to air dry. Apply a clear leather cream using gentle circular motions.
